I'ts been an odd season this year, and is about at an end.
The heat and drought took its toll on the farm this year, even with us irrigating from our own dam.
We have started preparing for our 2017 season already, and look forward implementing our new ideas and strategies.
This year we saw more people visit our fields than ever before, and being picked out on most Saturdays showed us that, as we had more plants in more fields for picking, and still we were picked out most Saturdays. We are looking at making good, positive changes this year, still keeping it organic, but hopefully we will have even more berries for you, the public, to come and pick.
Also, the growth of our vegetable picking has been well received by many, with a good variety of carrots, beetroot, lettuce, radishes, beans and much more available for everyone to pick.
With our picking season over, it means that we will revert back to being open on the last weekend of each month during the year (except December) for picking of our heirloom vegetables.
Our restaurant Forage & Feast, will remain open serving breakfast and lunch, on a limited menu, Monday to Sunday, and serving dinner Wednesday to Saturday evening. Dinner is to be prebooked on 012 207 1116.
We still look forward to welcoming you to The Strawberry Farm.
